Stone is one of those surfaces that quietly collects grime over time. Algae, moss, dirt - it all builds up slowly, and before long the surface looks almost black. The color you paid for? Buried under a season's worth of buildup. That's exactly what we were working with on this Colchester patio and walkway.

The patio had a thick layer of organic growth across most of the surface. The walkway running alongside the garden beds wasn't much better. Both were dark, slick-looking, and had clearly gone a few seasons without a proper cleaning. The natural blue-gray tones of the stone were almost impossible to see.

We ran our stone pressure washing process across the full patio and the entire length of the walkway. The goal is always the same - strip the surface buildup without damaging the stone underneath. Bluestone can be unforgiving if you go too aggressive, so technique matters. We adjusted pressure and worked methodically across every section.

The difference is hard to miss. The stone went from dark and dingy to clean, bright, and showing its actual color again. The surface texture came back too - that natural rough face that makes bluestone look like it belongs in a well-kept yard, not an abandoned one. Clean stone also holds up better over time. Moss and algae break down surface material when left to sit, so getting ahead of it is always the right call.

A patio and walkway like this one are part of what makes a backyard feel finished. When the stone looks good, the whole outdoor space feels more put-together. It's one of the more straightforward wins we get to deliver - and the results speak for themselves.
